COMMUNITY BOATING CENTER AWARDED
BEST SAILING AND BOATING INITIATIVE FOR 2004

Community Boating Center (CBC) has announced that it has been awarded Best Sailing and Boating Initiative by Rhode Island Monthly magazine.

The recent Best of Rhode Island issue states: “Some sports, like basketball, can be played almost anywhere with little spent on equipment. Other activities, such as boating and sailing, are more expensive and require access. We are the Ocean State after all, and it occurred to a group of local sailors that everyone, regardless of income, should have access to the experience of boating, especially kids. The Community Boating Center celebrates a decade of lessons, dock space, donated equipment and time spent on the bay.”

John O’Flaherty, Executive Director of CBC commented, “Community Boating Center is committed to providing access to sailing for everyone in Rhode Island. We’re excited to continue in our role of bringing sailing back to the people of the Ocean State.”

Community Boating Center (CBC) is a nonprofit, 501c3 recreational organization offering all members of the community an opportunity to sail. Located in India Point Park, CBC provides outreach, sailing lessons, and affordable access to the Providence waterfront. Gifts of cash or property to CBC may be treated as charitable donations for Federal Tax purposes.
