Senator Jack Reed visited Community Boating Center (CBC) in Providence, RI on 4/29 for a tour of CBC’s Providence After School Alliance (PASA) youth sailing progam.

Senator Reed commended CBC’s youth sailors on their commitment to participating in high quality after school programing and toured CBC’s campus in India Point Park in Providence.

Joining the Senator, Hillary Salmons, Executive Director of PASA, discussed Community Boating’s strategic, long-term partnership with PASA. CBC has been a key partner in developing and implementing high quality after-school and summer programs. In particular, CBC’s focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) was discussed.

Jack Gierhart, Executive Director of US Sailing, the national governing body of sailing, elaborated on CBC’s leadership as the premier pilot program for US Sailing’s national STEM initiative - REACH. Learn more about REACH

John O’Flaherty, Executive Director of Community Boating Center commented, “We had the best of the best at CBC today - Our strong partnerships with key leaders like Senator Reed, PASA and US Sailing continue to inspire and motivate our youth and our organization to reach for excellence.”
