COMMUNITY BOATING “RENAISSANCE REGATTA” RAISES $80K

Congratulations team H. Carr and Sons — 1st Place Finishers

Community Boating Center (CBC) has announced that it raised over $80K in its eighth annual Renaissance Regatta July 26, 2007 at India Point Park.

The benefit event featured teams of youth and adult sponsors racing together in challenges including skipper-switching races, life jacket pickup drills, and other courses designed for a fun and engaging day on the water. The racing was followed by a silent auction and catered party to support the non-profit’s maritime initiatives and celebrate the diversity and success of CBC.

The event was highlighted by the participation of Providence Mayor David Cicilline, who praised the growth of CBC summer and after-school programs, presented a citation of achievement to CBC Board of Trustees President Michael Dominguez, and sailed with CBC youth.

CBC offers special thanks to the event’s top level “Admiral” sponsors including: H. Carr & Sons, The Creamer Family, Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, The Dominguez Family, FPL Energy LLP, Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP, and The Windward Group. Additional recognition goes to H. Carr & Sons for taking first place in the racing.

John O’Flaherty, Executive Director of CBC commented, “CBC is proud to capitalize on the collaborative spirit of its donors, volunteers, members and youth outreach participants to establish an important community link to the Providence waterfront and Narragansett Bay.”

Community Boating Center (CBC) is a non-profit, 501c3 recreational organization offering all members of the community an opportunity to sail. Located in India Point Park, CBC provides outreach, sailing lessons, and affordable access to the Providence waterfront. Gifts of cash or property to CBC may be treated as charitable donations for Federal Tax purposes.
