Amica Insurance Sponsors Ferry Rides to Newport for Providence Youth

Community Boating Center announced today that its summer sailing camp youth will experience Amica Insurance Tall Ships Rhode Island 2007 via donated round-trip ferry transportation from Amica Insurance.

The Providence based youth sailors will be treated to an exciting day-long water adventure on Thursday, June 28, including fast ferry transportation between Providence and Newport, a special reception at the Amica Insurance festival tent, and a sailing adventure aboard the Tall Ship “Pride of Baltimore II”.

In an international celebration of sail training and sea education, the Tall Ships will arrive in Newport the week before the Fourth of July holiday on June 27, and remain until July 1, at several locations along Newport Harbor. Festivities include an international village, an integrated teen program, country exhibits, fireworks, a street parade of crew and cadets, and a black tie ball.

John O’Flaherty, Executive Director of CBC, commented, “We greatly appreciate the leadership and generosity of Amica in bringing this tall ships event to Rhode Island and enabling our youth sailors to enjoy such a great Ocean State experience.”

Amica Mutual Insurance Company, the nation’s oldest mutual insurer of automobiles, was founded in 1907. The company, with corporate headquarters in Lincoln, Rhode Island, is a national writer of automobile, homeowners, marine, and personal umbrella liability insurance. Life coverage is available through Amica Life Insurance Company, a wholly owned subsidiary. Amica employs more than 3,000 people in 40 offices across the country.
