One of the best fine wine producing areas in the world is California. Ideal humidity, soil conditions and temperature provides the best environment for winemaking. California white wine lovers will contest to the fact that California wines are of the highest prestige. California white wines make up over 40‰ of the wine production in the state.

California is the largest source of American wine by far, producing 90 percent of all US grown wine. The state of California is home to over 700 wineries that produce fine white wine and superior red wine. Premier California white wines are recognized throughout the world. White wine varietals grown in California originated in other parts of the world, most notably France, Germany and Italy. Many fine white wine varietals grown and produced all over the state include: Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Viognier and a wide selection of Chardonnays.
